The future is electric

On the road with the flagship. Elegant, almost silent and with zero local emissions in towns and cities, powerful and dynamic outside. When the battery is sufficiently charged, you always start in all-electric “e-Mode“ up to a speed of 135 km/h. The interaction of the combustion engine and electric drive is optimised in hybrid mode, particularly when route guidance is active.

The eHybrid drive as the beating heart: a V6 turbocharged engine, an electric drive motor and a lithium-ion battery with a net energy content of 14.3 kWh integrated in the luggage compartment underbody. Power transmission is performed by an 8-speed automatic gearbox with Tiptronic. The standard 4MOTION all-wheel drive system ensures the best possible contact between the car and the road. The 4MOTION Active Control allows different drivers to individually control the driving profile selection and to quickly change between profiles.

The new face of performance

A shining and unmistakably distinctive appearance – the exterior colour Lapiz Blue stands for Volkswagen R. The newly designed bumpers and elegant black elements such as the radiator grille, air intakes, trim strips and exterior mirror housings signal sportiness. Even the design trim strips on the front wings and the doors underline the motorsport ambitions. The R-logo in the radiator grille and on the boot lid ensure that the most powerful Volkswagen of all times is unmistakable.

A sporty wheel range completes the R-look: the Touareg R is equipped as standard with burnished 20-inch “Braga“ alloy wheels in black or grey. The 21-inch “Suzuka“ alloy wheels are optionally available with a black or grey burnished finish. The 22-inch “Estoril“ alloy wheels in 5-Y spoke design in black are a special highlight as an option designed exclusively for the Touareg R.

Give the Touareg R more personality. Choose your preferred background lighting from 30 different colours to immerse the interior in a customised light atmosphere – for example with illuminated blue light edges on the instruments, centre console and doors for a particularly sporty look. Another highlight is the optionally available Puglia natural leather tanned with olive leaf extract. The elegant details include the sporty diamond stitching, also on the door trims, and the piping in the seat cushion bolsters in Sepang Blue. The interior is equipped as standard with ergo-Comfort seats upholstered in Vienna leather with grey decorative stitching as well as the aluminium Silver Wave decorative trim.

Whether you are out and about in town, on a country road in the evening or on the motorway in poor weather: the optional IQ.LIGHT – LED matrix headlights adapt the intensity and luminous range of the LED segments to the changing traffic situations. Thanks to “Dynamic Light Assist“, other road users are not dazzled even when the main beam is active. Roads are illuminated better, and disturbing glare caused by light reflected from road signs is eliminated. And your Touareg R has an especially shining appearance in the truest sense.
