To be able to use Guide & Inform Car-Net services, your Volkswagen must have a navigation system. This includes “Discover Media” and “Discover Pro”, as well as Innovision Cockpit, available for the Touareg.

However, for Car-Net’s “Security & Service” service package, you only need the Emergency Call Service, which, like “App-Connect”, you can use without restriction with the “Composition Media” radio.

Together with the “Discover Pro” navigation system, we also recommend the “Business” mobile phone interface, which allows you to set up a Wi-Fi hotspot in your Volkswagen. This way, you and your passengers will benefit from the wide range of Car-Net services.

You can control many services using your smartphone with the We Connect app. When combined with the infotainment system, it can also enable the Internet access you need to use Car-Net. In addition, some services require certain technical components in the vehicle. For example, you will need an anti-theft alarm to use the “Online Anti-Theft Alarm” service.

You can obtain various service packages via the We Connect app or your own personal myVolkswagen customer areaOpens an external link (if you did not already do so when you bought your vehicle), depending on your vehicle. If your vehicle meets the technical requirements, you need a Volkswagen ID user account, which can be set up in a few simple steps.

To use the Car-Net services, you need a Volkswagen ID user account and need to log in with your username and password. A separate contract must also be agreed online with Volkswagen AG. To use the services for the full period, you have 90 days after vehicle handover in which to register the vehicle at www.myvolkswagen.net or using the Volkswagen We Connect” app (available in the App Store and Google Play Store). If you register at a later date, the duration of the free period will be reduced accordingly. The ‘Guide & Inform’ mobile online services of Car-Net can only be used with the optional equipment Discover Media and Discover Pro. You also need a mobile, Internet-ready end device (e.g. a smartphone) that is capable of acting as a mobile Wi-Fi hotspot. Alternatively, a mobile phone with remote SIM Access Profile (rSAP) or a SIM card with a phone and data option can be used with the ‘Business’ mobile phone interface option in combination with the Discover Pro navigation system. The Car-Net services are only available with an existing mobile data contract or one to be agreed separately between you and your mobile data provider and only within the coverage of the mobile data network concerned. Additional fees (for example, roaming charges) may arise when exchanging data over the Internet, depending on your particular mobile phone rate and especially when using the service abroad. Given the volume of data which arises when using Car-Net services, agreeing a data flat rate with your mobile data provider is strongly recommended. A smartphone with a suitable iOS or Android operating system and SIM card with data option with an existing mobile data contract or one to be agreed separately between you and your mobile data provider is required to use the free We Connect app. The availability of the Car-Net services may vary by country. These services are available for the agreed contract period and may be subject to substantive changes during the contract period. You can find more information on Car-Net at connect.volkswagen-we.com and from your Volkswagen partner; for information on mobile data charges, please consult your mobile data provider.

The specified consumption and emissions values were obtained using the legally required measurement procedure. Since 1 September 2017, certain new vehicles have been type-approved according to the Worldwide Harmonised Light Vehicle Test Procedure (WLTP), a new, more realistic testing process for measuring fuel consumption and CO₂ emissions. The WLTP will gradually replace the New European Driving Cycle (NEDC) from 1 September 2018. Due to the more realistic testing conditions, the fuel consumption and CO₂ emissions values measured according to the WLTP are often higher than those measured under the NEDC. This may result in corresponding changes in vehicle taxation from 1 September 2018. Further information about the differences between the WLTP and NEDC is available at https://www.vw.com.cy/en/owners-and-users/useful-information/wltp.html. It is still mandatory to include NEDC values as part of communications. For new vehicles that have been type-approved according to the WLTP, NEDC values are derived based on WLTP values. The additional provision of WLTP values is voluntary until their application becomes mandatory. In cases where the NEDC figures are specified as value ranges, these do not refer to a particular individual vehicle and do not constitute part of the sales offering. They are provided purely for comparison purposes between the various types of vehicle. Additional equipment and accessories (attachments, tyre format, etc.) could change relevant vehicle parameters, such as weight, rolling resistance and aerodynamics. As well as weather and traffic conditions and personal driving style, these add-ons could also affect a vehicle’s fuel consumption, power consumption, CO₂ emissions and performance. Further information regarding official fuel consumption and the official, specific CO₂ emissions for new passenger vehicles can be found in the “Guidelines on fuel consumption, CO₂ emissions and electricity consumption of new cars” which is available free of charge from all points of sale and DAT Deutsche Automobil Treuhand GmbH, Hellmuth-Hirth-Str. 1, 73760 Ostfildern-Scharnhausen, Germany (www.dat.de/co2). Efficiency classes evaluate vehicles based on CO2 emissions, taking into account empty vehicle weight. Vehicles which are in line with the average are classed as D. Vehicles better than the current average are graded A+++, A++, A+, A, B or C. Vehicles below average are classed E, F or G. The details here are based on the EC type-approval for the selected model and its standard equipment in accordance with Directive 2007/46/EC. The optional equipment you selected during configuration may mean that your configured model corresponds to a different approved type on account of your selected equipment than it would otherwise without the selected optional equipment. This means the details for your configured model may vary. The CO2 values stated are the values determined in the context of the vehicle’s type approval.
