Before we even think about the paint finish on your Scirocco we treat the body shell with our multi-coat rust protection process. We galvanise it to guard against corrosion, add further protection to the underbody and finally apply a flawless base coat.

We’re proud of the outstanding build quality reputation of our cars and the Scirocco is no exception. Laser welding is a vital part of our technique.

A rigid body shell, crafted by state-of-the-art laser welding techniques, not only creates additional strength – offering greater protection and better road holding – but also ensures narrow, uniform gaps between the body panels, dramatically reducing wind noise.

Four-link rear suspension

The safety shell
All Volkswagen cars are built with a tough safety shell. We use sophisticated computer technology to design the safety elements. We ‘test-drive’ our designs through accurate, computer-simulated accidents to make doubly sure this safety shell stays intact when you need it to.

The crumple zones
To further enhance your safety, we include crumple zones at the front and rear of the shell. Crumple zones are designed to absorb impact during a collision so that most of the energy is dissipated across these zones, and not in your passenger compartment.

As a result, the structure is so strong, it can absorb the impact energy and thereby protect the driver and passengers within its protective inner cell. You’ll also find your Scirocco has improved handling and is quieter to travel in.
